Opal Fossil Collection

The Gold Coast Opal & Gem Center does has a unique Opal fossil collection on display that includes opalized shells, Opal pineapples and opalized dinosaur bones.

This collection was started by Paul Sedawie from Seda Opals over 30 years and has taken lifetime to collect.

Some are from the Cooper Pedy Opal fields that include opal shells, belemnites and sea life fossils from Lighting Ridge are from swamp areas and rivers so few fresh water mussel shells and seeds and nuts are in this collection.

Also on display is a massive Boulder opal waterfall made in Queensland in 1976, the opal miners set rough boulder opals into slab 2 x 1 meter in size and it is now waterfall and the opal colours flash in the Opal.
